We have a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic Head Chef to help lead our Kitchen team at The Trafalgar St. James, Curio Collection by Hilton. Join one of the most iconic hotels in Central London, right on Trafalgar Square, and help us to create a wondrous place in people’s lives.

We are currently looking for a driven, ambitious Head Chef who enjoys the challenge of working in an evolving high-end market to join our professional and friendly team at The Trafalgar Hotel. This is a fantastic opportunity for an established Head Chef or Sous Chef with knowledge of current food trends, a creative approach to the production of food and the desire to innovate and push culinary boundaries.

Key Responsibilities

As our Head Chef, your main responsibilities will be to manage all aspects of the kitchen including operational, quality and administrative functions. You will also;

  • Contribute to menu creation by responding and incorporating Guest feedback
  • Ensure the consistent production of high quality food through all hotel food outlets
  • Assist in positive outcomes from guest queries in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure produce and ingredients are of a good quality and stored correctly
  • Manage customer relations when necessary, in the absence of the Executive Chef
  • Ensure resources support the business needs through the effective management of working rotations
  • Manage the kitchen brigade effectively to ensure a well-organized, motivated Team
  • Control costs without compromising standards, improving gross profit margins and other departmental and financial targets
  • Assist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships
  • Comply with hotel security, fire regulations and all health and safety and food safety legislation
  • Report maintenance, hygiene and hazard issues and be environmentally aware
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment

Key Requirements

You will be an established Head Chef or Sous Chef within a high end, dynamic kitchen environment, with a desire and a passion to cook with fresh quality ingredients sourced from the best suppliers.  You will be qualified to the expected levels in food hygiene and general cookery, will have exceptional communication skills and a positive outlook, and our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Strong leadership skills
  • Dedication and understanding of the demands of a busy business
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills, ability multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Positive attitude, Good communication skills
  • Proficiency with computers and computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
